GOV. EASLEY ANNOUNCES BUDGET THAT BUILDS ON EDUCATION PROGRESS 5/12/2008
- Gov. Mike Easley released his recommended budget adjustments for the 2008-09 fiscal year that provides $12.5 billion for education, improves the state’s ability to compete for jobs in the global economy, increases funding for mental health services, expands oversight of prison parolees, and helps communities better plan to deal with droughts.

GOV. EASLEY MEETS WITH LOCAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE OFFICIALS AND TOURS TORNADO DAMAGE IN BERTIE COUNTY 5/13/2008
RALEIGH - Gov. Mike Easley today met with local emergency response officials and conducted an aerial tour of tornado damage in Bertie County that occurred Sunday evening. Today he also sent teams of Small Business Administration officials to Bertie County to determine if the county is eligible for an SBA disaster declaration. If the county is eligible, uninsured residents whose homes were destroyed or received major damage would be eligible for low interest loans to use for home repair. full story...
